Obituary of Benjamin Perkins
Perkins, Benjamin Francis
Passed away at home on Friday, July 15, 2022 at the age of 77 years. He will be fondly remembered by his children; Wendy (Dave), Christopher (Paula) and by their mother Mary Ann. He was the cherished Grandpa of Owain, Meagan, Madison and Connor. Ben was the dear brother of Betty Carroll (the late Bill), Lorna Drexler (Rob), the late Margaret Hepburn (Ken) and the late Fred Perkins (Elizabeth). With profound gratitude we thank the emergency services of Guelph, The Guelph General Hospital, Dr Shende, Dr Laird, Dr Archibald (retired), ParaMed, Ontario Home and Community Care Support Services Team, Medigas, Ontario Home Oxygen. With all your care, compassion and professionalism Ben was well looked after.
Ben was proud of his work achievements.
Starting at age 12, delivering Ice with his brother Fred, Ben for most of his career was in Management. He took night courses at the University of Waterloo on Industrial Technology while working to pursue his dreams. He was a process guy. First at Kerny doing time studies, followed by General Towers for plastics. Then into phone electronics working for ITT in Guelph, INTCO in New Jersey/USA, TIE Communications in Connecticut/USA and then AMDAHL Mississauga/Canada. He moved to Managerial Consulting and supported companies with their ISO journeys around process documentation. I think one of his great memories was working for RHINO, an off road vehicle company in Henderson Nevada near Las Vegas. Ben taught courses at college in southern Ontario. He had a passion for teaching and mentoring others and always looked to support the businesses he worked for to improve their work situation. Many of Dad’s richest contacts and friends were from his work and he was connected with many of them for a long time after working at a company.
