Bentley, Allan Gordon
March 24, 1948 to March 28, 2013
Dear son of the late Harry and Lillian (Costello) Bentley. Allan is survived by his beloved Lori. Loving father of Jeffrey Bentley of Toronto, Kristen Bentley (Jason Wyllie) of Guelph and step-son John Hayden. Loved Papa of Liam, Tyler, Kaelyn and Ryan, Much loved step-dad of Brianne Carter (Jason Clarke) and Adrian Carter (Heather Moore) all of Guelph. Adored Papa of Seth, Raiedyn and Ryker. Al was anticipating the arrival of a new grandchild who will not be lucky enough to have met him. Missed by his sister Shirley (Steve) Macdonald of N.S., Dave, Norm (Carol) of B.C., Larry (Linda) of Erin, Dale, Sheldon (Jacky), Diane (Richard Gobeil) and Karen all of B.C., as well as many nieces nephews including Gary Macdonald of Guelph who was a good friend. Also a special "son" of Brandon Spies who Al will be forever grateful for his willingness to give the untimate sacrifice to try and save Al’s life. Al will be missed by his sisters-in-law and their families: Sandra (Phil O’Connel), Debbie (Pat Lazenby), Cheryl (Lou Klusacek) and Karen (Bill Darmon) and his mother-in-law Florence Eland. Al died peacefully at the Guelph General Hospital surrounded by his loving family, Lori, Brianne, Adrian and good friend Sue Bos. Al was formerly of Erin but lived most of his life in Guelph. He was retired from Imperial Tobacco where he had worked over 30 years. He loved to fish and hunt in his younger days as well as operate Capon Charters on Lake Ontario. Most recently he enjoyed simpler fishing and his winters in his favourite place,Florida, sitting on the shore engaged in good conversation with his good friends Ken and Rick. He will be sadly missed by many. Many thanks to his wonderful nurses on the 5th floor CCU at the Guelph General Hsopital. Your kindness and devotion made Al’s passing easier for all. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of life for Allan will be held on Saturday May 11th, 2013, at 1:00 p.m. at the Hespeler Legion, Branch 272, 26 Schofield St., Cambridge (Hespeler). There will be a reception to follow. Directions to Hespeler Legion are Highway 24 south, left on Guelph Ave., Right on Queen St., left on Schofield (Ott’s Garage is on the corner). The Legion is at the top of the hill. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Toronto General Hospital, Organ Donor Clinic would be appreciated by the family.
