Obituary of Marion Lenore Vanschaik
Marion Lenore Vanschaik (nee Brown)
January 17th , 1932 – June 26, 2024
On Wednesday, June 26, 2024. In her 92nd year. Marion passed away peacefully with
her family by her side at St. Joesphs Healthcare Centre, in Guelph, Ontario. Born in
Brantford, Ontario on January 17, 1932, predeceased by her husband John Vanschaik
(May 2019) celebrating 54 years together. Her favorite job was being a mom to
Stephen, Kathy and Lynn. Along with the extra love she had for her grandson Nathan
Brock Vanschaik. Her Parents Ivy Teresa Brown (Virtue) and her father Thomas Edgar
Brown raising 4 children. Shared with the love she had for her big sister Edith Wright/
Howard, (Nieces and nephews Donna, Colleen, Danny and Carole), her Brother Gordon
Brown/ Marie (Wendy and Peter) and Brother Harry Brown/ Marion (Debbie, Virginia,
Sandra, Jeff, Linda, Greg). Living in Hamilton, Ontario and attend Red Hill Public
School, then Salt fleet High School. Marion enjoyed her many jobs in life working for
Westinghouse in Hamilton, Grafton’s in Dundas and Lumsden Brothers in Burlington.
Marion raised her family in Burlington, Ontario before they retired to Eagle Lake, Ontario
(Haliburton), where they enjoyed 20 years of northern living with their many friends,
family and community. Marion spent 7 proud years as the president of the Haliburton
Hospital Auxiliary, and an active member on the Eagle Lake Ladies Society. Making
beautiful quilts for the summer raffles and baking delicious pies for the annual Rhubarb
Festival. Before re-retiring to Guelph, Ontario in 2004, where they shared the home of
their daughter Lynn. Making more beautiful memories. Marion can be remembered for
her infectious smile and contagious laugh and her very kind and giving spirit. She will
be deeply missed but never forgotten.
