BOYD, Walter Ernest “Wally”

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Walter Ernest Boyd on Wednesday May 29, 2024, at the age of 94 years. He peacefully passed away at Guelph General Hospital with his family by his side. Survived by his life partner Eleanora Walters. Dear father of Jane Costain (Bill Costain), Jim Boyd and (Gary Unsworth) and the late Susie Boyd. Cherished grandfather of Emily Costain. Survived by his only surviving sibling, brother Stan Boyd (Gina Carter-Boyd). Sadly missed by members of the Walters family; Glenn, Valerie Pezzetta, Craig and their significant others, their children and grandchildren. 

Walter served 35 years for the City of York Fire Department from May 25, 1954 until he retired on May 31, 1989. He loved his sports especially the Toronto Maple Leafs and during the summer months, the Toronto Blue Jays, but hockey was definitely his passion. Not to mention the endless reruns of The Big Bang Theory. During the morning hours he would sit in the front room watching the neighbours and the world go by while doing his Word Finder puzzles for hours on end. He loved watching the birds and his fish pond out in the backyard and as long as he had his sports on the television, his mac and cheese with his rum and coke, he was a happy man. But what made him the happiest in life, was his family and being with his life partner, Eleanor.

We'd like to acknowledge a big thank you to the Doctors and Nurses at Guelph General Hospital who took care of him and made his last few days comfortable.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Brombal Funeral Home, One Delhi Street, Guelph on Wednesday, June 5, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. with visitation one hour prior to service time.
