Obituary of Barbara Anne MacNeil

Barbara Anne MacNeil passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones at Hospice Wellington, on May 29, 2024, at the age of 78. Loving wife of 61 years to Don MacNeil. Dear mom of Don (Cathy), Ed(Kristen), and the late Carter. Cherished grandmother to Brenna, Logan, Riley, Jordan, Rachel, Chad, Nicole and their partners, along with her great-grandchildren Reese, Alyssa and Aliya.

Barb was proudly born and raised in ‘the Ward’ on Alice St in Guelph where she settled with Don to raise their family and continued to reside for over 65 years. As a young mother she joined the PTA at Tytler PS, and through this active membership developed life-long friendships that led to exciting adventures and travel. Barb loved a good party and always enjoyed her excursions to the casino or playing an exhilarating game of cards.

Barb was an entrepreneur at heart. She expressed her creativity in scrapbooking, designing crystal

figurines, creating jewellery, and crocheting blankets and stuffed animals. Barb’s many artistic gifts will be treasured by the young and the old for years to come.

Barb was loyal and devoted to those she loved and she cherished the time she spent with them. She was compassionate and thoughtful by nature and she never hesitated to put the needs of others before her own. Barb will be sadly missed by many and always remembered for her generosity, kind heart and vibrant spirit.

A private ceremony will be held at Woodlawn Memorial Park where Barb’s ashes will be interred.
