Obituary of Hunter Blaze McAfee
Hunter Blaze McAfee “Our Superhero”, age 10, passed away peacefully on April 16, 2024, due to complex medical issues. He was born October 4, 2013, in Guelph General Hospital and battled his much too short life with complications from cerebral palsy, epilepsy and many other medical conditions. Although Hunter lived in Guelph, he spent a lot of time at McMaster Children’s hospital and was adored by many hospital staff, a special thank you to his Qola Care and Complex care teams as well as a large extended family and friends rooting for him from day one. Hunter attended Priory Park Public School, he loved his teachers, his nurses and all his friends. If you remember nothing else about Hunter, you will remember his captivating blue eyes, beautiful hair, loving infectious smile, and his resilience to bounce back from whatever was thrown at him, truly our Superhero. He loved music, dancing, a good joke, and most importantly his family. Hunter is survived by his mother, Yvonne McAfee, sister Echo, brother Damon, Uncle Daniel, Jade, and a multitude of loving and supportive great-grandparents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Special thanks to the nurses at St. Elizabeth and to his primary nurse Gail for making sure he was safe and well taken care of at school and to his PSW Elise.
A celebration of life will be held on May 4, 2024 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Brombal Funeral Home, 1 Delhi St., Guelph. The family asks that you consider wearing Hunter’s favorite colour red or something bright.
