Obituary of Martyn Day
Day, Martyn Terrance ~ With breaking hearts, we announce the passing of Martyn after a courageous battle with cancer at the Wellington Hospice, Guelph on Thursday, December 20, 2018 at the age of 63. Martyn will be greatly missed by his wife and soulmate Julie Day (nee Beynon) of 40 years. Devoted father to Kyle (Stephanie) and Brett (Sabrina) and over the moon in love with granddaughters Isabella and Chloe. Beloved brother of Kevin (Dawn) and nephews Simon and George. Sadly missed by brother in-law Garry (Sarah) and nieces Page and Maggie. Loved son in-law of Ron and Joyce Beynon of Portishead, UK. Fondly remembered by Auntie Zena and cousins Stephen and Jeremy from Shepton Mallet, UK, Uncle Roy and Elsebeth and cousins, Sharon, Nigel, Tanya and Carston of Croydon, UK. Predeceased by his parents Gwen and Terry Day.
Martyn was born in Bristol in 1955. He did a tool and die apprenticeship at Rolls Royce, Bristol where he worked on the "Concord". Martyn and Julie emigrated to Canada in 1978. He was an employee of Blount Canada for 40 years, where he was well liked and respected and will be missed by his coworkers and partners in crime, Linda, Marty, Barb and Carolyn (Thank you). Cremation has taken place. The family will host a Celebration of Life at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 234, 57 Watson Parkway South, Guelph, on Saturday, January 5, 2019 from 1 – 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Hospice Wellington or to Grand River Hospital Foundation "Cancer Centre" would be appreciated.
