Obituary of Judy Thomson
Thomson, Judy Ann ~ It is with a heavy heart that we announce that after an 8 ½ year battle with breast cancer, Judy Ann Thomson (nee Ellis) passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, January 6, 2013, surrounded by her family. Cherished daughter of George Ellis of Mt. Forest and the late Gladys (Morrison). Devoted wife for 28 years of Rick Thomson. Loving and affectionate mother of Andrea Goren (Matthew) of Mississauga and Ben of Guelph. Dear sister of Connie Arnold (Steve Capling) of Waterloo, Cheryl Snyder (the late Paul) of Guelph and Verdon Ellis (Cathy) of Sarnia; sister in-law of Martha Charron and Bob Thomson and daughter in-law of Nancy and John Thomson of Guelph. Judy will be fondly remembered by several nieces, nephews, many dear friends and colleagues and missed by her feline friends Franky and Johnny.
Judy took pride in helping others and will be remembered for her warm and gentle nature and for listening with compassion and open-mindedness. She was a dedicated Addictions Therapist at the Community Alcohol and Drugs Service division of the Homewood Health Centre. She was well respected for her spiritual strength and grace, even during the hardest of times. We would like to express our sincere thanks for the support provided by Dr. Arnold and staff at the Juravinski Cancer Centre and Drs. Kuk and DeCarolis at the Grand River Regional Cancer Centre. Judy also received exceptional palliative care from Dr. Stephenson, the Bayshore nursing team including Rose, Mike, Kelly and Linda, her HLO personal support workers, and support teams at CCAC. Special thanks to her primary nurse, Laura Thomas, for her gentle and compassionate care. Cremation is taking place.
