Obituary of Donelda June "Donnie" McNally
McNally, Donelda June (Donnie) ~ Died peacefully, under the compassionate care at Hospice Wellington, April 23, 2013. Eldest daughter of Hazel & Cary Workman. Beloved wife and best friend to Elvin. Much beloved mother to John Bullock (Nancy Dickieson) and Carolyn (2006). Sadly missed by her sister Norma (Brian); brothers, James (Alice) and Jack (Jessie deceased); many nieces and nephews and her dear friends, Hannah and Emilie. Predeceased by her sister, Mary and brother, Frank. Donnie was born at home on the 16th of Peel, on June 21, 1927. She went to a rural school, walking three miles uphill each way and then to Arthur District High School. Donnie worked mainly on switchboards. First for Bell and then for 30 years at the University of Guelph while she raised John and Carolyn. Elvin was quite privileged to marry Donnie in 1971 and they spent many happy years together. Donnie was quite active in church work, establishing Dunara Group Homes and the Schizophrenia Society. She loved preparing meals for family functions. Donnie’s last clear words to Elvin were, "I want to go home with you".Friends may call at GILCHRIST CHAPEL – McIntyre & Wilkie Funeral Home, One Delhi Street, Guelph on Thursday, April 25th from 2:00 – 4:00 & 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at the Gilchrist Chapel on Friday, April 26 at 2:00 p.m. with burial to follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
