Obituary of David George Biggs

Died of cancer on Friday, July 4th, 2014 in Guelph, Ontario. David was well loved by Judith Thompson Biggs, his grandchildren Felix, Dante, Kaya, Seneca, Jakab, Carys, Manita and Isaak and his children Bruce Norton (Isabelle Gaulin) and Beth Norton (J.P. Federico) Joanna Tamilarasan (Maghin) and Julie Birosh (Matt). He was predeceased by his parents, Stan and Lil Biggs and wife Judy Biggs née Fox. Mr. Biggs influenced thousands of students while teaching for the Upper Grand District School Board for over 30 years sharing his love of history and reading. Dave cheered on hundreds of Guelph hockey players from the Biltmore Mad Hatters, the Holody Platers, the Storm and minor hockey. Biggsy played and coached fast pitch softball with dozens of buddies for years and he dominated in friendly trivia games often taking on all comers. Pa loved his grandchildren with generosity and joy, acting as their number one fan. Friends may visit at the Gilchrist Chapel -McIntyre & Wilkie Funeral Home, One Delhi Street, Guelph on Wednesday, July 9th from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. The service will be held at the Hanlon Convention Center, 340 Woodlawn Rd West, Guelph on Thursday, July 10th at 1 p.m. officiated by the Reverend Canon B. Jean Mitchell with a reception to follow. Memorial contributions to Hospice Wellington or the Guelph Wish Fund for Children would be appreciated.
