Obituary of J. D. Jack Kirkup
~ Passed away, age 78, at The Elliott in Guelph on Tuesday, 18th. of February 2014 after a lengthy struggle with cancer. Beloved husband of Marilyn (Soderberg) Kirkup for 55 years. Loved father of Terry (Kim) of Pickering, and Brent (Jill), Greg (Karen) and John (Joyce), all of Guelph. Proud granddad of Kaitlin, Danielle, Brandon, Meghan, Isabelle, Meredith, Jarrett and Darcy. Dear brother of Katharine Binks (Bob) of Scarborough, Carolyn Kirkup (Bill James) of Kingston, Shirley Smith (Deryk) of Elora and Paul Kirkup (Louise) of Gilford. Jack enjoyed a successful career with CIBC, serving as Manager in Guelph and retiring as Head of the Corporate Banking Centre in Windsor; a member of the Dundas, Guelph and Windsor Rotary Clubs; longtime member of Cutten Fields, serving as Junior Golf Chairman; former member of Essex Golf & Country Club; Director of the Ontario Golf Association (now GAO), serving as Area Chairman and Governor; a 34-year participant with his sons in the Father and Three Sons Golf Classic. A celebration of Jack’s life will be held at 11am on Friday 25 April 2014 at Cutten Fields,190 College Ave. East, Guelph (519-824-2650). In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Myeloma Canada would be appreciated.
