Obituary of Charles Rupert "Rupe" Murdoch
Rupe, in his 91st year, passed away peacefully on Tuesday April 23rd, 2013 at the Guelph General Hospital after a brief illness. Beloved husband of Margaret (Pinches) for 63 years. Loving father of Campbell (Cam) and Jean both of Guelph. Rupe will be sadly missed by his sister Betty Horning of Toronto, his brother Arthur (Myra) of Etobicoke and his many nieces, nephews and cousins in Canada, England and the USA. He was predeceased by his parents, Lizzie (Clough) and George Murdoch. Rupe was a Veteran of WWII, RCE Company C (his nickname Red) and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 229, Elora. He was a life member of Speed Lodge A.F. & A.M. No. 180 G.R.C. He sang in the lodge choir and he also enjoyed singing tenor in the Norfolk Street United Church choir. Rupe was an employee of Guelph Stove Company and Hammond Manufacturing. Cremation has taken place. The inurnment is Friday May 3rd at Woodlawn Cemetery at 12:30 p.m. On Saturday May 4th, at GILCHRIST CHAPEL – McIntyre & Wilkie Funeral Home, One Delhi Street, Guelph (519-824-0031) there will be visitation from 1:30-2:30 p.m. followed by services, both Masonic and Memorial (Rev. Arty Miller officiating). Donations to Multiple Sclerosis or the charity of your choice would be appreciated. We invite you to leave your memories and donations online.
