Evelyn Norma Davison ~ 1917 - 2015
A singer of songs; a teller of tales; a keen wit; an infectious sense of humour; a loving mum and family member; a doting grandmother and great-grandmother; a stalwart friend; an unwavering optimist; a dreamer... Norma passed away peacefully on Friday, November 6th with family by her side. Born in Port Arthur, April 17, 1917, she was named after her father Norman, who was away fighting in the Great War at the time of her birth. She was predeceased by her son Clyde, her sisters Joan, and Wilma, daughter-in-law Mary, husband Frank. Left to mourn her passing are her children Jane (Gene), daughter-in-law Shirley (Doak), Mark (Sally), Ruth (Bruce); grandchildren Trevor, Melissa, Anne, Jodi, Stephanie, Mel, David, Michael, Lynne, Lori, Melinda, Melora, Todd, and Charlie; her 26 great grandchildren, her brother Charlie, sister Marjorie, many nieces, nephews and her good friend Terry. Having survived Scarlet Fever at a young age, Norma went on to enjoy all manner of sports from synchronized swimming to horseback riding to being on the school basketball team. After Matriculation, she graduated from Port Arthur General Hospital Nursing Program and began her long and rewarding career as a Registered Nurse. She worked in hospitals in Northern Ontario; specialized nursing in Guelph and enjoyed many years as Plant Nurse at the Guelph CGE Plant. Norma will be remembered for her unconditional love to family and friends, her singing and storytelling and her leading of hymns during services held at Heritage House where she spent many happy years.
The family wishes to thank all the staff at Guelph Heritage House for the steadfast care given and wonderful meals served. Special thanks to ‘Norma the Nurse’ for her wisdom, understanding, and empathy.
