Obituary of Rev. Dr. Ronald Smeaton
Smeaton, The Rev. Dr. Ronald Colquhoun ~ Peacefully, at home, on Monday, August 3, 2015 at the age of 80. Beloved husband for 57 years of Delores (Renout) Smeaton. Proud father of Ruth McClary (Mac) of Ogden, Utah, Iain Smeaton of Waterloo, and the late Robert (1962). Cherished grandfather of Andy, Brian and Becky. Dear brother of Rod of Chilliwack, BC. Predeceased by his parents Robert McGoff Smeaton and Constance (Etherington) Smeaton. Ron served with the United Church of Canada in many locations in Ontario including Minister at Norfolk Street United Church from 1981 until his retirement in 2000. Past Master of the Royal City Daylight Lodge A.F. & A.M. #742, GRC; Past Padre of Col. John McCrae, Branch 234, Royal Canadian Legion; Chaplain of the Guelph Naval Veterans and retired Chaplain from the 11th field regiment in Guelph among many. He touched many lives and will be fondly remembered.
Friends may call at the GILCHRIST CHAPEL – McIntyre & Wilkie Funeral Home, One Delhi Street, Guelph, Friday, August 7th from 2 – 4 p.m. and 7 – 9 p.m. with a Masonic service at 6:45 p.m. and on Saturday, August 8th at Three Willows Church, 577 Willow Road, Guelph, from 12 noon – 1:30 p.m. with Legion service at 11:45 a.m. Funeral Service at 2 p.m. with Rev. Mary Elliott officiating. Cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the United Church of Canada Foundation-Mission and Service Fund would be appreciated.
